The small village of “Guaitil” is home of the last descendants of the Mayans in our country. Proud of their heritage, they have protected much of their culture; especially their ceramic art. Admire how they hand shape mud in to pottery painted with natural soil colors, just like their ancestors did thousands of years ago.
Guaitil is a small village located just outside Santa Cruz, the primary center of Costa Rican folklore.
In this town, people make clay pots by hand, decorate them with the earth´s natural colors and fire them in giant wood-burning ovens, just as their ancestors, the Chorotega Indians, did.
