Visit the Poas Volcano

The Poas Volcano, northwest of San José, is as captivating as the famous Irazu Volcano to the east. Towering to 9,000 ft., Poas is a phenomenon of nature. The active crater is one of the widest in the world, occasionally erupting with a discharge of smoke and steam.

The ever changing panorama begins when we start our ascent from the Colonial city of Alajuela until we reach the Poas National Park. There is remarkable beauty in this sub-alpine environment.

From the crater, a nature trail leads to a beautiful Volcanic lagoon.

At the Oxcart Factory you will witness firsthand the creative artist and craftsman working on the Costa Rican famous Symbol.
